A Principal’s Welcome

It is my pleasure as Principal to welcome you to our new school website. As we build our new website, I hope it offers you an insight into life here in Boyne Community School. We are a school community, committed to excellence and achievement. Our website reflects the importance of developing the student as a whole. We always encourage our students to work hard,  participate fully and  enjoy school life.

I feel confident in describing Boyne Community School as a caring, progressive, forward thinking establishment,  which is able to respond rapidly to the changing world in which we find ourselves. Only by being at the forefront of developments in education will we ensure that our students develop the skills and confidence they will need to succeed. We offer a wide range of education programmes including Junior Cycle, JCSP, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate, LCA, and LCVP. We offer an excellent choice of academic and practical subjects and a wide variety of extra and co-curricular activities. We embrace the opportunity to engage with new subjects and we now offer Leaving Certificate Computer Science. Our curriculum aims to ensure that every student receives the best possible educational experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Teaching and Learning is at the heart of all we do in Boyne Community School.  We are all learning. We are all teaching. We are all continually striving to make things better. At our school’s core is a team of dedicated teachers and support staff who are all committed to ensuring that our students receive the very best opportunities that a school can provide. The school’s ethos is informed by our mission statement and our motto, (Meas, Mórtas, Muintearas) We recognise the importance of respecting ourselves and everyone around us (meas), of always doing our best and having pride in our work (mórtas) and, as a community school, feeling a sense of belonging to the whole community (muintearas). Central to our aim is the desire to ensure that all our students enjoy success in an environment that respects difference and upholds the dignity and rights of each person. The importance we place on this is evident in the programmes and activities we offer. These include Gaisce awards, Green Schools and actively fundraising for charity to name but a few.

We have a very dedicated staff, freely giving their time to offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities; students are encouraged to be actively involved as we believe their participation provides them with a real sense of belonging and affords further opportunities for growth as individuals. Please be assured that when you entrust your child into our care, we regard the opportunity to educate them as an absolute privilege and take very seriously the responsibility this brings with it.

Mr Ó Siadhail, Mr O’ Callaghan, Mr.Flannagan and I are privileged to be leading this wonderful school and to be a part of each student’s journey as they prepare to become young adults. We are committed to the continuous development of our high standards in all areas of school life and believe that our students will flourish in a safe, caring and inclusive environment. Partnership and working together to achieve the best educational outcome for our students is central to their success. Together, staff, parents, guardians, the Board of Management and the wider school community play a key role in developing happy, resilient and accomplished young people. Please don’t hesitate to contact our school for further information and support. A very warm welcome awaits you.
