Well done to our TY students Patrick Cribbin, Ciaran Enright and Sean Harrigan who did a fantastic job at representing Boyne Community School at the Certified Irish Angus competition. They are the first group to represent our school at the competition. Their project focused on improving the efficiency, profitability and sustainability of Certified Irish Angus beef.
They investigated options such as earlier feeding in the animal’s life and types of nutrition for meeting earlier slaughter targets and producing quality beef.
They produced a fabulous display of their journey over the past 6 months and the data they collected along the way. They met with many judges and representatives from Kepak, ABP, The Irish Farmers Journal & Certified Irish Angus Beef. They also met with Minister of Educatjon, Helen McEntee. They received wonderful feedback from all. A huge thank you to Ms. Murphy for opening up the opportunity and for her guidance & support during the process. Thank you to Ms. Brady for supporting them on the day too. Also, thank you to the farmers and experts they met a long the way who provided them with the knowledge to base the project. And of course, thank you to the parents for their continued support.
We await the results of the finalists who will receive the angus calves at the National Ploughing Championships so stay tuned.
