Today we faced Cnoc Mhuire from Granard in the North Leinster Semi-Final at Trim GAA. This had the makings of a high quality contest from two teams aiming to reach the North Leinster Final.

Granard settled into the game much better in the first half and started to take hold of the game with some early scores. Boyne CS were working extremely hard to weather this storm, but it was a very difficult half and we went in 9 points down at half time.

A halftime reshuffle, a shift in tactics and a focus on the positives gave us a new found energy in the second half and this started to show on the scoreboard as we slowly but surely started to reduce the deficit. At this point all the play was in the Granard half and all the momentum was with us as we got level on the scoreboard with 6 minutes to play.

Unfortunately that was the closet we got as Granard broke away and scored 2 goals in a matter of minutes. To the credit of the lads we went straight back at them and managed to score a goal of our own to reduce the deficit to 3 points going into injury time. One last attack saw Boyne get a sight of goal but this chance was saved by a combination of goalkeeper and a defender.

The referee blew the whistle with both teams exhausted from an enthralling game of football that had everything.

So that brings us to the end of the season but we look forward to this talented group of footballers regrouping again next year.

Finally a big thank you from your mentors Mr. McDonnell and Mr. Cullen for all your commitment and hard work this year.
