Our Boyne CS athletes were in action last week at Morton Stadium, Santry, for the North Leinster Secondary Schools Track & Field Championships. As always, the best talent comes out for the secondary school competitions.
Leading the way in qualifying for the Leinster Secondary Schools Finals were;
Rachel Farrell, Gold in the Junior Girls Javelin
Finian Mooney, Gold in both of the Minor Boys 1,100m & 800m events
Thomas Patrick Carbery Smith, Gold in the Inter Boys Long Jump
Mark Loughran, Silver in the Intermediate Boys Pole Vault
With tough qualification criteria (first 2 in sprints and first 3 in all other events), other notable performances were as follows;
Stas Zeilinski and Sean Farrell, 4th and 6th, respectively, in the 800m Inter Boys final
Rachel Farrell, 4th in Junior Girls 75m final & 3rd in 200m final
Caleb Loughran, 5th in the Junior Boys Long Jump & 3rd in 200m final
Mark Loughran, 3rd in 200m Inter Boys final
Jamie Massey, 6th in Minor Boys 800m final & 3rd in 100m heats
The Inter Boys 4x100m relay, comprising TP Carbery Smith, Mark Loughran, Stas Zeilinski, and Sean Farrell, came third in the final.
Well done to all of our athletes, and best of luck to those competing in the Leinster Finals on Wednesday, May 15th, and Thursday, May 18th.
