Congratulations to Jason Callaghan (3rd year), Aidan Keane (TY) and Dawid Walega (6th year) who competed in the U19 Piano Competition last Saturday in the Navan Choral & Instrumental Festival.The students had to perform two contrasting pieces and the standard of the competition was very high.
Jason who performed ‘Intermezzo from Aquarelle’ by Gade and ‘Sonatina in A minor’ by Kuhlau placed Commended, Aidan who performed ‘Rondo Capriccioso’ by Mendelssohn and ‘Mercutio’ from the Romeo & Juliet Suite by Prokofiev came 2nd place and Dawid who performed a Toccata & Fugue by Bach and ‘Sonata No.3 in B Minor’ by Chopin came 1st place.
The adjudicator commended the students for their musicality, technical ability and acknowledged the amount of practice and hard work that goes into achieving these performances and results. Well done Dawid, Aidan & Jason- fantastic achievement from all three of you!
