Boyne CS Girls Soccer had their first game of the season today.
The u15 squad today was made up of a mixture of girls from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. Many girls were playing their first competitive soccer game and did brilliantly. The game was pretty even for the opening 15 minutes until Alicja Lakomska (NERL Gaynor Cup Squad captain) scored with an effort from 35 yards that flew into the top right hand corner. Boyne CS kept the momentum going with their second goal, taken brilliantly by Nova Sherwin from the tightest of angles after some good build up play by Lucy Bannon. In the second half, Boyne defended diligently and restricted Rath Dara CC to only 2 efforts on goal which Abbi McCormack dealt with comfortably. Laoise Keatinge, despite being in 1st year and competing against 3rd year students, was outstanding in her defending and link up play. Nova Sherwin scored the third goal after another mazy run past 3 Rath Dara defenders. All 18 players involved today were excellent and have made a great start to the season and the u15 team has now progressed to the last 16 of the Minor Cup.
